Children’s Ministry At Chapel Hill Christian Church
Children are important at Chapel Hill Christian Church. Our children are included in the life of the church.
The goals of our children's ministry are: to insure that every child that comes to Chapel Hill Christian Church is welcomed, nurtured, and respected and to provide opportunities for children to grow in their love of God and neighbor.
Our children's program continues to grow and change to meet the needs of our children.
During worship each week we have a participatory children's sermon. Sometimes, Pastor Rebecca talks with the children, sometimes we read a story together, sometimes Silva Stumpf teaches a new song. Once in a while there is a new Edwina and Friends story too.
Our children participate in Lighting the Advent Candles during the season and creating the Sand Prayer during Lent.
One year, Samuel Parrish wrote a Gathering Song to the tune of Row, Row, Row Your Boat! We sang it for a whole season.
Each year our children participate in the Blessing of the Backpacks, this is a special worship service for children of all ages near the beginning of the school year. Children bring their own backpacks to be blessed and we collect school supplies for the children of Project Homestart.
Our children also participate in service projects such as help packages for natural disasters, and growing tomatoes for IFC.
We provide a pastors class/confrimation for children seeking baptism and church membership.
A member of our Youth, also has a position on the Church Council. Emily Powell is our Youth representative on Council now.
